A Fun Valentine’s Workshop Idea
One hazard of my trade is that I’m constantly needing new ideas for new project kits for new workshops. If I don’t come up with new ideas, then not only do my personal workshops become stagnant, but my wholesale clients who depend on me for their workshops don’t have anything fresh and new either! #TheStruggleIsReal
I teach my workshops at a variety of places–local communities, churches, businesses, restaurants, my home studio, the local wine bar and even online at Bungalow Craft Co.
Last Thursday night, I had the privilege of teaching at Boxcar House. Their mission is “to help each customer make their homes feel more inviting and find pieces that tell a story.” They create exquisite home furnishings from retired boxcars sourced from around the country.
Since the venue was full of such amazing pieces that would obviously appeal to both men and women, I thought that a couple’s party would be right on track. {see the subtlety of what I did there? hehehe}
I felt that wine was little overdone for V-day and that coffee was under appreciated, so I went with a coffee bar theme for the evening.
Each couple created two different projects.
The men made wooden plank signs that incorporated black handmade glass glitter.
The women completed a chalkboard using a little something new, a custom stencil from Fairy Dust Decals.
Delisea Carter & her amazing right-hand, Carrie Beth at Boxcar House outdid themselves.
Until next year… Y’all have a great Valentine’s Day. xo -Brooklyn
